Recent R&D in photonics: Victories Project and Trend of Photonics Industry in Japan

A ten-year-project for photonics named Victroies was performed in 2008~2018 in Japan. This project was aimed to produce an innovative technologies to realize a network with an enormous capacity and with small power consumption by using a dynamic optical path network technology. To realize this technology, a new vertically integrated technologies ranging from optical devices, transmission systems, and networks were developed. This talk will give an outline of the project and also introduce recent trend of photonics industry in Japan.
